I'm a journalist, author, campaigner and charity founder. I believe that women often get a raw deal in pregnancy, childbirth (and across their reproductive lives) and I'm working hard to change at least a little part of that.
These days I spend most of my time working with the human rights in childbirth charity Birthrights I founded, writing freelance for The Pool, The Guardian (and others) as well as commenting on birth-related issues in the media. I became interested in birth and women's rights when I became a doula and these days I'm still a (very occasional) birth doula.
I live in a muddy field in deepest Kent with my two children, my husband and a motley crew of semi-useful animals.
My new book, Your No-Guilt Pregnancy Plan was published by Penguin Life in 2018.
